EYES FOR EARTH AND EDEN

CHOKRI OMRI
(TUNISIA)

EYES FOR EARTH AND EDEN

From this sweet Earth we have come
and launched our journey of the living.
We had and could have no time for stopping
and we will go on without thinking,

without knowing until we will truly arrive
at knowing, at thinking, at weeping
and at smiling.

This Earth is ours and our Land is rich.
Tell me please how we are deprived.
No one is born to be made for dying
if we just live life without human mapping.
How can we be too selfish and agonistic

if we love and give without wrapping?

Our eyes shall never be closed
to the Tower of Light and will
forever seek out the Truth
and be guided by every flower.

Nuestros ojos nunca cerraran

THE OTHER DAY

but the other
day i was passing a certain
gate,
rain
fell(as it will
in spring)
ropes
of silver gliding from sunny
thunder into freshness
as if god'sflowerswere
pulling upon bells of
gold
i looked
up
and
thought to myself
Death
and will You with
elaboratefingerspossibly touch
the pink hollyhock existence whose
pansy eyes look from morning till
night into the street
unchangingly
the always
old lady always sitting in her
gentle window like
a reminiscence
partaken
softly
at whose gate smile
always the chosen
flowers of reminding

DEUNĂZI

dar deunăzi
treceam pe lângă o anume
poartă,
ploaia
cădea (cum se întâmplă
primăvara)
frânghii
de argint alunecau din însorite
tunete în prospețime
de parcă florile dumnezeiești
trăgeau clopotele de
aur
am privit
în sus
și
mi-am spus în sine
Moarte
și poate Tu cu degete atente
vei atinge viața de nalbă roz ai cărei
ochi de pansea privesc de dimineață
până noaptea către stradă
neschimbată
veșnica
bătrână stând stând veșnic la
geamu-i blând ca o
aminitire
împărtașită
tandru
la a cărei poartă zâmbesc
veșnic florile alese
ale amintirii

Words of my Heart

Endear yourself, let me say, seek out your dignity, and never keep your head down lest, dear friend, you fail, when you fall down, to rise up like before. You will make it. You will hopefully make it no matter how perilous, daunting and imposed this way of life might seem. Arise, Awake and Be. Plant the flowers of your garden and guide the sluice of water into them. Nobody will do it better except you. Nobody will step in your shoes. Look at their flowers and wonder. Spring is coming despite winter. So, help its coming by going back to your home and garden. 'It is my faith that every flower, William Wordsworth reminds us in his poem entitled "Lines Written in Early Spring", enjoys the air it breathes.' In his turn, John Keats has something to add assuring us that even if spring is gone, 'still later flowers for the bees/until they think warm days will never cease.' To live means to be aware and take time to read, see, perceive, open windows, appreciate, love, understand, apprehend, forgive and there has never been such a fool who could fail to understand how a little child is pulling all the sky over him with a smile. Smile :)
